Exporting Survey Data
Choose CSV, KML, LandXML or a VIA package and save a copy of your survey.
Export the active survey for use elsewhere or to keep a separate copy. Open the correct survey first and check its name. Grid CSV and generated LandXML need a usable working coordinate system.
Choose and deliver a format
- Open Survey and check the Active Survey.
- Tap the share icon beside Active Survey.
- Choose a format from the export sheet.
- On iPhone, use the system share sheet: choose Save to Files or another suitable destination. Check the saved file exists before removing any local data.
| Choice | Use it for |
|---|---|
| VIA Survey Package (.via) | Survey observations, typed attributes, template information, available photographs and selected original alignment |
| Survey CSV (working CRS name) | Grid Easting, Northing and Level, with observation metadata and Attributes |
| Survey CSV (Geodetic) | Recorded latitude, longitude and altitude, with observation metadata and Attributes |
| Survey KML | Point locations, names and available notes for mapping |
| Survey Alignment (LandXML) | A new straight-element horizontal alignment joining the survey points in order |
Know what each format preserves
CSV exports include typed template attributes, but do not bundle photographs. KML is a simpler point-location export, not a complete template or photographic record. Use a .via package for the fuller observation context.
Generated LandXML requires at least two survey points and a supported linear unit in the working CRS. It creates straight segments starting at chainage zero; it does not export the imported design alignment or fit curves to the observations. The package can instead include the selected original LandXML source.
Grid export transforms recorded positions into the selected working grid at export time. Height is passed through, not converted to a project vertical datum. Grid CSV uses -999 for a missing level; geodetic CSV leaves missing altitude blank. Export column order is fixed despite display preferences.
If export fails
Wait for the working CRS to load, check the number of points for LandXML and confirm available storage. On Android, the delivery chooser also offers Share and Save to Device. A successful share-sheet dismissal does not prove a receiving service stored your file; inspect the destination.
