Navigation and Maps
Read your live position and control the project information on the map.
Navigation combines a live map with grid and alignment coordinate readouts. Allow location access and select your working CRS first. Import and select an alignment if you need chainage and offset.
Read your position
- Open Navigation and wait for a location.
- Read the grid coordinate panel. Expand a collapsed panel by tapping its heading.
- With an active alignment, read the alignment-position panel for chainage and offset.
- Check the displayed position quality before using the coordinates. Offset is positive to the right and negative to the left, looking along increasing chainage.
Use the map
Pan and zoom to inspect the site. The locate/lock control switches position-following on or off; use it to return to your current position. In Find, the locked view also accommodates the target.
Tap the layers icon to show or hide survey points, reference points, alignment tangent points and alignment geometry. Survey points belong to the active survey; reference points come from the currently loaded reference file.
Change the map display
Open Settings → Map display for Standard, Satellite or Hybrid, position-quality display and other visibility choices. Point Display changes point symbols and colours throughout VIA.
If information is missing
Check the layer switch, selected survey, active alignment and working CRS. Reference coordinates must be reopened after an app restart. A blank background may mean imagery is unavailable; it does not necessarily mean your project data is absent. Reported horizontal accuracy describes the device fix and is not a setting-out tolerance.
